Chromo barcode labels require a thermal transfer ribbon (Wax or Wax-Resin) to print. They offer long archival life, sharp contrast, and resist fading from sunlight or heat. Direct Thermal labels have a heat-sensitive chemical coating and print directly from the printer's printhead without a ribbon. Direct Thermal is ideal for short-life applications like e-commerce shipping labels and courier waybills, but will darken if exposed to direct heat or sunlight over long periods.
